Anelka: I hate penalties

23 May 2008 - 11:19

Chelsea striker Nicolas Anelka has revealed that he didn't want to take a penalty for the club in the Champions League final against Manchester United. Anelka missed the crucial penalty that cost the Blues the game.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd set to hold contract talks with experienced star
  • "I was on the bench for 110 minutes and the coach brought me on after warming up for no more than a minute. Then he asked me whether I wanted to take one of the penalties," Anelka told l'Equipe.

"Absolutely not, I said. I had to play as wing back and now he wanted me to take a penalty?"
