Benfica choose Quique Flores

23 May 2008 - 12:47

Benfica has almost completed the signing of the Spanish coach Quique Flores to lead the red team for two or three seasons. In the coming hours he will be discussing the final details with club and the Spanish coach should be submitted no later than Monday.

  • Arsenal leading the race to sign 22yo Dutch striker
  • Man Utd & Arsenal enter race to sign Italian defender

  • Neither the Portuguese coach Carlos Queiroz, nor Eriksson, or Michael Laudrup could be brought.

After all those names the one they have chosen is Spanish coach Quique Flores.

The Director of sports at Benfica, Rui Costa, led the negotiations, still taking place and will remain in discussion in the coming hours.

Quique Flores wants to secure a competitive team, thereby forcing the SAD to some financial effort to improve the quality of the current team.

Rui Costa will be expected to reach Filipe Vieira to complete the deal and present Quique Flores to the fans, probably during the weekend or at the latest early in the next week.
