Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta would like to sign Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams during the winter transfer window, according to David Ornstein.
The Gunners will be without Bukayo Saka for the next two months at least following his hamstring injury against Crystal Palace on the road.
Ethan Nwaneri recently showed plenty of promise as his deputy, but the wonderkid has been ruled out for some weeks with a muscle injury.
Arsenal are now in the transfer market for a potential replacement and Ornstein claims that Arteta would like to bring Williams from Bilbao.
However, a deal is far from straightforward for the Gunners.
Bilbao will want his €60 million release clause to be paid in full for a transfer while Williams' wage demands could be substantial.
Williams is also not agitating for a move away from Bilbao. Hence, a deal is unlikely on the cards until next summer's transfer window.
Arsenal could explore the loan market for a possible winter signing.
