Aston Villa have made a shock move to sign Manchester United star Marcus Rashford before the transfer deadline, according to The Athletic.
The England international has fallen out-of-favour under manager Ruben Amorim and has not made an appearance since mid-December.
This has spread speculation that he could leave on loan and reports claim that manager Unai Emery has requested Villa to land his signature.
Rashford has been holding out for a move to Barcelona in recent weeks, but the Catalan giants don't have room to afford part of his wages.
The attacker prefers to continue at United for the rest of the campaign, but Villa remain optimistic of prising him away from Old Trafford.
The Midlands outfit recently offloaded Jhon Duran to Al-Nassr, and Emery has urged the hierarchy to land Rashford as his replacement.
Rashford is predominantly a left-winger, but he has been equally successful leading the line for United over the past nine years or so.
