Juventus reveal Alonso plans

Juventus reveal Alonso plans

24 May 2008 - 15:04

Xabi Alonso could follow former Liverpool team mate Sissoko to Turin as the latest player to be linked with a move away from Liverpool, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.

  • Arsenal handed major boost on Odegaard for Newcastle trip
  • Enzo Maresca explains why Cole Palmer didn't face Newcastle

  • It is thought that Juventus have emerged as interested suitors for the cultured midfielder and are bargaining somewhere in the region of 17 million euros.

Clubs will apparently meet in Turin on Monday to discuss finalities.

His position at the club has come under question recently after an indifferent season and Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez’s public effort to bring in Aston Villa’s Gareth Barry in an already busy fleet of central midfielders.

Alonso, who would prefer to stay in Liverpool, has been quick to reiterate that he may be forced to depart after four years at the club: “"If they want to make a change and look for other players, I would accept it and seek an exit, but they have not said anything to me.”

John Arne Riise, another long term service man for the club, has also been linked to the Italian giants

The Norwegian left-back has struggled to hold down his place in the first team of late and Juve are interested in his experience and attacking capabilities, despite his untimely misguided back-header in the Champions League semi-final against Chelsea.
