Hull City make the Premiership

Hull City make the Premiership

24 May 2008 - 16:19

Hull City are in the Premiership for the first time in their 104 year history after veteran Dean Windass scored a first-half goal at Wembley to defeat Bristol City 1-0 to secure their promotion from the Championship.

  • Chelsea close in on signing Brazilian wonderkid
  • Man Utd star could be fit for the FA Cup final

  • The result means £75 million worth of reward for Hull City, who arguably deserved to make their way into the Premiership.

The Tigers, with former Premier League players Nick Barmby and Windass in their starting lineup, looked dangerous throughout and made Bristol City nervous at times.

It took a moment of magic from the veteran Dean Windass to wrap up the result, as he smashed the ball home from inside the area to put Hull 1-0 up.

Gary Johnson's Robins were only promoted from League One this time last year and were never really match for the Tigers in this game.

Trundle then had a shot blocked by defender Michael Turner in the 85th, but Hull held out through four minutes of injury time to send their fans wild.
