Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has provided a cryptic update on the future of midfielder Thomas Partey.
Partey has been in sensational form for the Gunners in recent weeks. He was fantastic in the Champions League quarter-final ties against Real Madrid.
This has led to speculation that Arsenal could extend his contract due to expire at the end of June.
When pressed on this topic, Arteta said that the intention is clear and sporting director Andrea Berta will decide the next step alongside the club.
He told reporters today: "The intention is very clear. I'll leave that to Andrea and the club to take a step forward."
Arsenal have earmarked Martin Zubimendi as a possible successor for Partey in the number six role.
However, a deal is far from guaranteed with reports claiming that Real Madrid have entered the race.
The Real Sociedad star could reportedly prefer to stay in Spain with Madrid instead of moving to London.
