Arsenal have been handed a big boost in signing Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia during the summer transfer window, according to journalist Matteo Moretto.
The Gunners were hot on the trail of the 24-year-old last summer but they could not secure an agreement before the transfer deadline.
Espanyol wanted his release clause to be paid in full which Arsenal were unwilling to do.
Mikel Arteta's side are poised to return for the shot-stopper this summer and they have been handed a boost with Garcia not keen on joining Barcelona.
The Catalan giants made an approach for the Spaniard earlier this week, but Garcia has informed that he would prefer to move to the Premier League.
Arsenal agreed personal terms with the talented star last summer and it remains to be seen whether they can land his services this time around.
Aston Villa and Bournemouth are prepared to hand him a regular starting role while Arsenal only consider him as a backup for David Raya.
Garcia can be signed for his release clause worth £21 million. Espanyol are willing to negotiate a long-term payment plan for a transfer.
