Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi is set to undergo his medical with Arsenal this week, according to BBC Sport.
The Gunners have been long-term admirers of the Spain international and they are now on the cusp of landing his services.
The club have agreed payment terms with Sociedad for Zubimendi's €60 million release clause and he will now travel to London.
The 26-year-old could undergo his medical in the coming days with Arsenal keen on finalising the deal as soon as the transfer window reopens.
Zubimendi could be the first of several signings for the Gunners. The club are planning to land a marquee striker and a versatile winger.
A backup goalkeeper and a central defender could also be signed. The spending spree could coincide with multiple player exits.
The likes of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Reiss Nelson and Fabio Vieira are among players that could be shown the exit door this summer.
Jakub Kiwior coud leave the Gunners too if a centre-back is signed.
