Arsenal are expected to make an improved bid to sign Valencia defender Cristhian Mosquera in the coming hours, according to Spanish outlet Superdeporte.
The Gunners are keen on strengthening their central defensive department during the ongoing transfer window. They were initially keen on landing Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth, but he chose to join Real Madrid.
Mosquera has emerged as the backup solution and reports claim that Arsenal have already failed with an opening bid worth €15m. The club are expected to return with an improved offer of €20m plus €5m in add-ons soon.
Personal terms are not expected to be an issue with the Spain youth international. Arsenal remain optimistic of securing an agreement with Los Che for the centre-back before the end of the week.
Mosquera was initially tipped to extend his contract expiring in June next year, but the lack of progress is likely to pave the way for his departure in the coming days.
