Manchester United will reportedly need to pay a premium fee to purchase Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins during the summer transfer window.
The Red Devils had a miserable 2024/25 campaign in the Premier League. They accumulated just 42 points from 38 matches played.
The club need a huge improvement next season. The arrival of Matheus Cunha should add more creativity in the final third of the pitch.
Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo is also anticipated to join the club soon. Aside from the duo, United have identified Watkins as a striker option.
They are ready to sign him if Rasmus Hojlund departs, but the Mirror claim that the England international won't come on the cheap this summer.
Arsenal were quoted a price of £60 million when they tried to sign him in January, and United will need to match the same figure for a deal.
The Red Devils could be reluctant to make such a huge outlay, considering Watkins will be 30 later this year and may not have a resale value.
