Chelsea are discussing a potential swap deal to sign RB Leipzig playmaker Xabi Simons this summer, according to journalist Ed Aarons.
The west London giants are keen on adding more firepower in the final third ahead of the new campaign. Simons is one of their prime targets.
The Blues have been negotiating with Leipzig for the past week, but they have failed to lower their €70 million valuation for the Dutchman.
It is now reported that Leipzig have opened the door for a player-plus-cash deal and are willing to sign Nkunku as a makeweight in the deal.
Chelsea are more than willing to agree to the transfer formula to secure a discount, but the final decision will depend on Nkunku.
Nkunku was on the radar of Bayern Munich earlier this summer, but the Bavarian giants are no longer in the race for his services.
Inter Milan are said to be interested in the Frenchman and it remains to be seen whether Nkunku will agree to reunite with Leipzig.
