Manuel Akanji has been given permission to talk to Premier League side Crystal Palace, as the Eagles have reportedly had a bid of £15 million accepted for the centre-back. Swiss international Akanji helped Man City to several titles, but Pep Guardiola wants to freshen up his defence for the current campaign and will allow the former Dortmund star to leave
Akanji arrived at City in 2022 and went on to appear 85 times in the Premier League under Guardiola, but at 30-years-old the centre-back is ready for a new challenge and Crystal Palace appears to the Swiss international defender who has 71 caps and 3 goals to his name.
The defender has been a regular starter under Guardiola but this season has fallen down the pecking order at his current club.
It is understood that Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner is looking for a replacement for Marc Guehi, who is possibly going to leave Selhurst Park before the end of the transfer window, with Liverpool his likely destination. Akanji would be an affordable replacement for the English centre-back.
