Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that William Saliba twisted his ankle during the warm-up against Liverpool.
The Gunners suffered a slender 1-0 loss to the Reds at Anfield, and the game was decided by a sensational freekick from Dominik Szoboszlai.
Speaking after the game, Arteta was posed with plenty of questions, and one of those was focused on Saliba's substitution in the sixth minute.
The Spaniard said that Saliba twisted his ankle during the warm-up and he could not carry on after the first two actions in the game.
He said: "He twisted his ankle during the warm-up, and he came in and he said he believed that he could carry on and play.
"But straight away in the first two actions. I could see that he couldn't cope, and we had to get him out unfortunately."
Arsenal suffered their first defeat against the Big Six in the Premier League in 23 attempts. They will be bitterly disappointed.
