Galatasaray will sign Ilkay Gundogan this evening in a deal worth around £3.5 million, after Manchester City informed the former Germany international that he would be allowed to depart the Etihad Stadium. Gundogan returned to Pep Guardiola's side last summer from Barcelona, but failed to set the Premier League alight in his second spell at the club and had been told that he is free to find a new challenge.
Man City have signed many new players this summer and that likely leaves Gundogan surplus to requirements, and it is understood that Galatasaray will match the player's current salary at the Etihad Stadium, but give him an additional year to his current deal that expires in the summer of 2026 with City.
It is understood that Gundogan is currently in Turkey with Galatasaray undergoing a medical, and an announcement is expected in the coming hours, bringing one of Europe's most coveted midfielders of recent times to the Turkish top flight.
Gundogan will turn 35-years-old in October, and will likely finish his career with the Turkish side.
