Manchester United goalkeeper Senne Lammens turned down a move to Aston Villa before joining the club from Royal Antwerp on deadline day.
The Villans had reached a verbal agreement with Antwerp to purchase the Belgian, but they wanted to part ways with Emiliano Martinez first to buy him.
Martinez was touted to join the Red Devils in the final days of the summer transfer window, but United refused to meet his weekly wage demands.
As a result, Martinez stayed at the Midlands outfit. Meanwhile, Lammens was also reluctant to join Villa after United entered the pursuit of him.
The Red Devils eventually signed Lammens for around £21 million and the 23-year-old could make his debut at some point during the campaign.
Altay Bayindir has continued to get the nod between the sticks but Lammens could be introduced if the former is injured or makes an error.
Until then, Lammens has to play the waiting game, considering United are not in the Europa League and have also exited the Carabao Cup.
