Man City tonight moved to 2nd in the Premiership thanks to their young midfielder Michael Johnson; who scored his second goal of the season as Man City defeated Aston Villa 1-0. Johnson goal secured the victory, and afterwards City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson was quick to praise the young midfielder.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Johnson was impressive throughout and his goal was equally brilliant - the player has been linking well with Elano and Hamann, and the experience has improved the player's confidence considerably, as shown with his great goal today.

Speaking after the victory, Man City boss Sven-Goran Eriksson said of Johnson, "He is an all round midfielder. He can defend, he is a good passer and he scores goals and it is fantastic to see a young player like that."

Man City's excellent start to the season has lead to several parts of the media wonder whether Man City could push the "big four" at the end of the season for a Champions League place.

When questioned on the matter, Sven replied, "It is too early to speak about that, We have to go on match after match and try to do as well as possible.

"I don't think it is a realistic ambition. I hoped I could say yes but if you look at the squad of last season's top four they are still the best."
