Manchester United are weighing up a move for Sporting CP defender Ousmane Diomande when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
The Ivorian has been heavily linked with a Premier League switch over the last two years, and he could eventually make the move this winter.
United are eager to bolster their central defensive department, particularly with the uncertain future of Harry Maguire whose contract expires in June.
Maguire recently scored a late winner against Liverpool. He has become popular again with the fans, but has yet to agree terms on a renewal.
Amidst this, the Red Devils are lining up a January move for Diomande, and could be prepared to meet the reported €50 million price tag to sign him.
Ruben Amorim worked closely with Diomande at Sporting CP and the close relationship could urge him to join United amid interest from elsewhere.
Juventus are also keeping tabs on the talented centre-back, but he could find it hard to turn down a reunion with Amorim at Old Trafford.
