The Red Devils were determined to bolster the midfield department last summer, but they could not secure a suitable target.

They are expected to try again at the turn of the year and reports claim that United are eyeing two midfield additions.

The club are likely to pursue a defensive midfielder in January and could seek another addition to the squad next summer.

The Mancunian giants are not close to signing anyone at the moment, but things could change towards the end of the year.

Brighton & Hove Albion's Carlos Baleba was the top target last summer, but the Seagulls have no plans to sell for now.

Seagulls manager Fabian Hurzeler has clarified that the Cameroonian will stay with the club until the campaign concludes.

United are likely to pursue a Premier League-based solution in January such that the new signing can adapt seamlessly.
