Chelsea could make a January approach to sign Bayern Munich central defender Dayot Upamecano amid interest from Liverpool.
The Blues suffered a big blow over the summer as Levi Colwill picked up a serious knee injury. He has been ruled out for the entire campaign.
Despite this, the hierarchy did not pursue a replacement in the transfer market, but their stance is likely to change during the next transfer window.
The club could make another centre-back addition to their ranks and it is claimed that Upamecano has emerged as a potential target for them.
Upamecano's current deal with Bayern expires in the summer of 2026 and as things stand, the German champions have yet to convince him to stay longer.
Liverpool are weighing up a cut-price move for the Frenchman in January, but they could now face fierce competition from the Blues for the centre-back.
Bayern could be willing to sell him for around €30 million.
