No spending spree for Bayern

No spending spree for Bayern

29 May 2008 - 20:33

Bayern Munich will not be embarking on a huge spending spree this summer. The Bundesliga champions have already signed Tim Borowski, and according to Uli Hoeness, will be unlikely to sign many more players.

  • Arsenal handed major boost on Odegaard for Newcastle trip
  • Enzo Maresca explains why Cole Palmer didn't face Newcastle

  • Hoeness told Bild: "We have already signed Tim Borowski, an international after all.

"I am not of the opinion that we need to buy players every year. We were very interested in AC Milan's Gennaro Gattuso. Unfortunately that did not come off.

"But it does not make any sense to say 'if we don't get Gattuso then we will buy someone so that we have bought someone'.

"Last year there was a real need to strengthen the team. This year it is not the case. I can imagine us starting next season with our present squad."
