Chelsea and Arsenal are in contact with Belgian Jupiler League outfit Genk with regard to a move for 18-year-old attacking midfielder Konstantinos Karetsas in the January transfer window. With six assists in 18 games in the Belgian top flight, the Greek international has caught the eye of numerous Premier League teams but it is the Gunners and Blues both that have registered their interest in signing the talent first.
Genk have slapped a 25 million euro pricetag on the youngster, who already has nine caps and three goals for Greece's full national team. The Belgian outfit are in no rush to sell, but Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta wants to add strength in depth to his squad as he approaches the second half of the season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea's board of directors continue to pursue the brightest young talents in world football and are hopeful a deal can be agreed for Karetsas. Brighton and Hove Albion have also been mentioned as a potential location for the Greek international.
Karetsas was born in Belgium and made the move to Genk in 2023 from Anderlecht, but decided to represent Greece as he was born to Greek parents, despite having appeared for Belgium's international youth teams at every level.
