Manchester City have confirmed that Josko Gvardiol will be sidelined for sometime after undergoing surgery for a tibial fracture to his right leg.
The Croatian sustained the setback during the second half of the Premier League clash against Chelsea. The Cityzens have now confirmed bad news on the versatile defender.
A statement on the club's official website: "Manchester City FC can confirm that Josko Gvardiol has suffered a tibial fracture to his right leg."
Alongside Gvardiol, Ruben Dias also sustained a muscle injury against the Blues, and a formal update is expected on the Portuguese pretty soon.
Dias is most likely to miss the upcoming league clash against Brighton & Hove Albion where Man City could have a new look centre-back partnership in Nathan Ake and Abdukodir Khusanov.
Both players have had minimal playing time in the league with Dias and Gvardiol being the regular centre-backs. They have a huge job on their hands in the forthcoming games.
