Arsenal suffer double injury blow ahead of Atletico clash

25 April 2026 - 20:26

Arsenal have suffered a double injury blow ahead of the first leg of the Champions League semi-final against Atletico Madrid on the road on Wednesday night.

  • Man City weigh up transfer move for Azzedine Ounahi
  • Chelsea tracking Martial Godo

  • The Gunners returned to winning ways in the Premier League with a slender 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium earlier today.

Kai Havertz provided the assist for Eberechi Eze's winning goal from the edge of the box, but the game ended on a sour note for both of those players.

Havertz was substituted in the opening half with a possible muscle injury, and he looked distraught as he walked straight down the Emirates tunnel.

Eze, on the other hand, happened to indicate to manager Mikel Arteta that he asked to be substituted as a precaution rather than a serious issue.

It remains to be seen whether either player is deemed fit to face Atletico in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final on Wednesday night.
