Arsenal are prepared to break their transfer record during the upcoming transfer window, according to The Telegraph.
The Gunners spent a record £105 million fee to sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice in the summer of 2023.
They are now planning to break that record with a marquee signing as they seek to defend their Premier League title next term.
Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez is a prime target for the Gunners. Manager Mikel Arteta sees him as a future left winger at the club.
Atletico purchased him from Manchester City for a staggering £84m two years ago and he could cost at least £120m this summer.
Arsenal have already been in regular contact with Alvarez, who could prefer to join the Gunners if Barcelona can't afford him.
Barcelona are in a tight financial situation and reports claim that they may not make a huge outlay on Alvarez in the next transfer window.
Paris Saint-Germain are also in the mix for his signature, but the World Cup winner reportedly does not rate Ligue 1 in high regard.
