Real Madrid are unlikely to make an approach to sign Chelsea midfielder Enzo Fernandez despite expressing an interest to his entourage earlier this year.
Los Blancos are expected to announce their next manager in the coming weeks. Jose Mourinho is the favourite to take charge if Florentino Perez is re-elected as Madrid's president.
Fernandez has been heavily linked with the Spanish giants in recent months and the Argentine has personally talked about his dream of playing for Los Blancos.
However, a deal does not appear on the horizon. If Mourinho were to take charge, he has his sights on strengthening the defence. The club have already signed Ibrahima Konate and Denzel Dumfries.
There could be another marquee centre-back recruited, while Madrid are planning to land a top-quality winger too. A new midfielder is not being prioritised and therefore, Fernandez is no longer a target.
Fernandez looks poised to continue at Chelsea next season. Manchester City have been linked with him, but are not contemplating an offer due to the hefty valuation of around £120m set by the Blues.
