Manchester United could turn their attention to landing Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha amid the standoff with West Ham United for Mateus Fernandes this summer.
The Red Devils have already landed a new midfielder in Ederson from Atalanta. The Brazilian will formally join the club after his World Cup campaign with Brazil.
United are also keen on landing another marquee midfielder. Fernandes is the prime target but the Hammers are reluctant to sanction his sale for less than £85 million.
The non-changing stance from the east London outfit has meant that the Red Devils have switched their focus to Nmecha, who could be prised away from Dortmund for £60 million.
Dortmund are willing to do business for such a price, though they would prefer to keep him for another 12 months. Nmecha is presently with Germany at the ongoing World Cup.
He is unlikely to consider his future until his return to Europe, but United have already held talks with his entourage in order to reach an agreement on personal terms.
