Campo gutted by Bolton exit

Campo gutted by Bolton exit

09 June 2008 - 16:03

Spanish midfielder Ivan Campo has admitted he is gutted to have left Bolton Wanderers after long service to the Trotters. Campo is set to return to his homeland and Valladolid have been linked with the former Real Madrid midfielder.

  • Chelsea to move for former Arsenal goalkeeper?
  • Former Chelsea boss to replace Erik ten Hag at Man Utd?

  • "It is a bit sad I had to find out from the coach (Gary Megson), in a two minute phone call, four days after the final game of the season, that he no longer wanted me," Campo told the Daily Star.

"I can fully understand that the coach wants to play a different style and there is no room for a player like me. That's fine, but I would have liked to have been given the chance to say goodbye.

"One of the saddest things in my unforgettable time at Bolton is nobody from the club has been in contact to wish me good luck. At the very least I expected a phone call from Phil Gartside. I'm very upset it has ended this way."
