Hiddink: we can beat Spain

09 June 2008 - 16:07

Guus Hiddink is hoping that Russia can cause the first upset of the Euro 2008 tournament as the Dutchman's side prepare to take on Spain in their first game of the tournament.

  • Man Utd planning to replace Erik ten Hag after FA Cup final
  • Arsenal midfielder eyeing move to Turkish giants

  • "Their players are well known, our players are not well known. I hope that will change in 24 hours," he told a news conference.

"We will try to give Spain a hard time. I don't want to see a team that was afraid to play as was the case at past tournaments.

"We hope that we can break the rhythm of the previous games that have been played at this Euro tournament. The favourites have won their first game of the tournament. So, tomorrow we face Spain, I have said many times they are favourites, so we hope to break this trend."
