Donadoni wants big response

09 June 2008 - 22:18

Italy coach Roberto Donadoni is hoping for a positive response after the 3-0 defeat to Holland in the Euro 2008 match between the two giants of world football tonight. The Netherlands cruised to a three goal victory thanks to goals from Wesley Sneijder, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.

  • Predicted Chelsea line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Palmer starts
  • Chelsea ready to sell four home-grown players

  • Now the Italian boss is hoping that his side make an immediate impression in their next qualifying match in Group C.

"In the first-half, we conceded two goals, from mistakes, but despite that we were not overrun by Holland," Donadoni told Rai tv.

"We have made mistakes in our approach to the game, but the guys will respond positively.

"We were also short on luck throughout the game. I don't deny the facts, we have not started well, but we must look forward to the next two matches and try to do our best.

"Against Romania (on Friday), we have to recover our mental strength."
