Arsenal are set for further negotiations with Newcastle United to sign midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to Fabrizio Romano.
The Gunners are determined to land the Brazil international this summer, and he has been identified as the perfect midfield signing by manager Mikel Arteta.
Personal terms have already been agreed with the former Lyon man, but there is still a distance between the valuations of the clubs at the moment.
Arsenal have had two bids worth £55m and £65m rejected for the 28-year-old and are already preparing a third offer worth £70m for his services.
That is also expected to be turned down by the Magpies, who are holding out for a package between £80-85m for the experienced midfielder.
Romano now claims that more direct negotiations will be held for the player in the next week, and a conclusion could finally be reached.
Guimaraes is due to report for Magpies training on July 31, but he could be a Gunners player by then if payment terms are agreed upon.
