Chelsea are preparing a fresh bid for Rayo Vallecano left-back Pep Chavarria, according to reputed journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have earmarked the Spaniard as the prime target to replace Marc Cucurella, who left for Real Madrid earlier this summer.
Chelsea have already failed with a couple of bids for the 28-year-old. Their most recent bid worth £20m was turned down by Vallecano.
Despite this, the Blues have not given up on the experienced ace and manager Xabi Alonso has personally urged the hierarchy to land him.
The Blues are weighing up a fresh move for Chavarria and remain optimistic of striking an agreement with their latest proposal.
Vallecano have been holding out for the player's £43m release clause, but could end up accepting around £30m for the left-back.
Alongside a new left-back, the west London giants are open to pursuing a new midfielder, should there be another high-profile exit in the near future.
