Aragones rules out Torres rift

11 June 2008 - 20:18

Luis Aragones has declared there has been no rift with Liverpool striker Fernando Torres after the coach took off Torres during Spain's Euro 2008 first game which they won 4-1. Torres stormed off looking a little upset.

  • Aragones said: "I can understand that a player is annoyed. But that happened to me when I was a player.

"We couldn't leave things as they were, but these are questions which remain an internal matter and I am not going to say more about them.

"I had to take someone off because we needed more insurance in the centre of the field.

"Torres has played a long, tough season and will be a very important player for us but in this moment we needed more strength in the centre of the pitch."
