Former Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is reportedly the frontrunner to replace Michael Carrick as Manchester United's head coach.
The Red Devils had a dismal Champions League outing against Como earlier today. They were second-best in every department and lost 4-1. Joshua Zirkzee scored a stoppage-time consolation.
With the defeat, United have gone winless in seven matches in all competitions, and there is a genuine possibility that Carrick could be dismissed from the helm in the coming hours.
Amidst this, journalist Alan Nixon has revealed that Howe is the favourite for the job and he is determined to return as Premier League manager as soon as possible.
Howe left Newcastle late last summer after a disagreement over the club's transfer proceedings. The departure of Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal was the last straw for him.
Hence, the Englishman decided to move on. He will obviously want more power in the decision-making on transfers if he is appointed to replace Carrick at United.
