Newcastle United are moving a step closer to signing Russian midfielder Andrei Arshavin after reportedly completing discussions with the player's agent whilst he is in Austria and Switzerland.
Kevin Keegan has never hidden his desire to sign the Zenit St Petersburg midfielder, who helped his side to UEFA Cup glory this year.
Arshavin has also attracted the interest of Barcelona and Inter Milan this summer, but is expected to be more interested in joining a Russian side.
