Catalan sports daily Sport.es claims that FC Barcelona are interested in signing the Romanian international striker Adrian Mutu from Italian side Fiorentina this summer.

  • Chelsea & Arsenal handed blow in Bundesliga striker pursuit

  • Mutu was one of the top strikers in the Italian Serie A in the 2007-2008 season and his goals and contribution to the Fiorentina defence saw the Florence side finish fourth ahead of AC Milan in the table and thereby qualify for the UEFA Champions League.

Spanish and European powerhouse FC Barcelona are eager to take new faces on board and are on the hunt for a new striker after it was confirmed that the Cameroonian international striker Samuel Eto'o was to be shipped off.

Arsenal hitman Emmanuel Adebayor is said to be the most wanted striker for Barcelona and their new coach Josep Guardiola but he shall come at a price of 29 million euros. Sport now claims that should Barca not be able to wriggle out that sum, they could shift their attention towards Adrian Mutu who is currently one of the best striker in Italy, if not in Europe.
