New Barry bid rejected

Aston Villa have revealed that a renewed bid from Liverpool for midfielder and captain Gareth Barry has been rejected; but indicated that reports a £17 million offer was made was far from the truth.

“The report in today’s paper of a £17 million offer for Gareth Barry is inaccurate,” read a club statement.



“The club have received a renewed offer from Liverpool for the player but that still falls well short of Aston Villa’s evaluation, and has subsequently been rejected.”
