Barca to hand Xavi new contract

06 July 2008 - 17:39

Spanish giants FC Barcelona are set to hand their star midfielder Xavi Hernandez a new contract in the coming weeks.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • There have been rumours that Italian champions Inter Milan may try and lure the Spanish international midfielder to the San Siro and it appears that Barca have taken notice of the matter.

Barca shall hand him a five-year contract which shall then make him at par with the club highest earners, captain Carles Puyol and Argentine youngster Lionel Messi.
