Gill: Ronaldo is staying put

Gill: Ronaldo is staying put

22 July 2008 - 16:07

Man Utd chief executive David Gill has confirmed that Cristiano Ronaldo will not be leaving the club this summer. Real Madrid have campaigned for months to sign the Portugal international; but the player will most certainly be staying at Old Trafford.

  • Confirmed Liverpool line-up (4-2-3-1) vs Aston Villa, Gravenberch starts
  • We believe: Amad Diallo reacts after Man Utd's 2-2 draw at Forest

  • Gill told Sky Sports News: "We made it clear to them [Real Madrid] from day one we wouldn't welcome a bid, it wouldn't be accepted and therefore I don't think there is not much point in putting one in.

"That's where we are at with the situation.

"Obviously there has been lots of paper talk and a lot of coverage in the media about it and we understand that.

"But the reality of it is we have been very firm from day one."
