Ince backs Robinson

Ince backs Robinson

28 July 2008 - 09:29

Blackburn boss Paul Ince has backed under fire goalkeeper Paul Robinson to be a success at his new club. Robinson has been brought in from Tottenham to replace Brad Friedel, who joined Aston Villa last week.

  • Enzo Fernandez wants to leave Chelsea
  • Man Utd can finally sign Ederson for huge bargain fee
  • Ince said: "Robbo is a fantastic goalkeeper.

"Obviously it is disappointing to lose Brad, we tried all we possibly could to try to keep him here financially but it wasn't to be.

"I'm disappointed but at the same token we have to move on and we've replaced him with an outstanding goalkeeper in Paul Robinson.

"He's had his ups and downs at Tottenham and England but at the end of the day he's an international goalkeeper, he's played for England 40-odd times, he's a No1 goalkeeper alongside David James.

"So it is a new start for him and I'm looking forward to working with him and hopefully he is one of many to come into Blackburn Rovers."
