Schuster on Ronaldo decision

Schuster on Ronaldo decision

08 August 2008 - 07:20

Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster has expressed his disappointment at Cristiano Ronaldo's decision not to move to the Bernabeu this summer.

  • Arsenal handed injury boost on defender ahead of Bournemouth clash
  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • The 23-year Portguese winger has always maintained that he wanted to move away from Manchester United to Real Madrid this summer but in the last 24 or so hours, Ronaldo has stated that he shall play at Old Trafford next season.

This indeed comes quite as a disappointment for the Real Madrid faculty who must certainly be still eager to press on Cristiano.

Schuster though has conceded defeat and has expressed his disappointment. The German however says that he respects Ronaldo's decision.

"We must respect his decision. He was free to do what he wants and it's a pity that he's not joining us, because he is a footballer who could really improve this great team," said Schuster.

"But, we have a great team and one that can fight for all the goals we have. It is a decision we must accept."
