A. Cole: we've been rubbish

23 September 2007 - 13:15

Ashley Cole has admitted that Chelsea's start to the season has been "rubbish" and that Chelsea must impress in today's battle between Man Utd and Chelsea.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • "We need a massive lift. Everybody is disappointed with the way we’ve been playing. We’ve been rubbish, to be honest. We need more confidence, we need to start eradicating errors and scoring more goals or we are nowhere," he said.

"It’s imperative we go to United and win. A defeat at this stage could have major repercussions on our season.

For Cole the recent performances were typified by a disappointing draw against European minnows Rosenborg.

"That draw was a total embarrassment. With the team we had at our disposal we should be beating sides like that. We were dire, and we all know as players that we were rubbish, and there is no excuse for that. We should have won that game easily. And if we continue to play like that we won’t win anything,"
