Miguel Angel Lotina has revealed that he had been in discussions with Newcastle with regard to the possibility of leaving Deportivo for St. James' Park. It is understood that Newcastle have now turned their attentions to Croatian boss Slaven Bilic.
Lotina said: "I nipped it in the bud. My plan is clear. I am very happy at Deportivo, with the players, club and the fans. My intention until June 30 is to continue here.
"I had a call to see if I was interested. They asked about my situation and I informed them that I have a contract and could not consider leaving."
