Scolari hits out at Chelsea

Luiz Felipe Scolari has revealed that he was unhappy with his players, despite the 4-0 demolition of Bordeaux in the Champions League last night. The Brazilian was disappointed with some mistakes made in the second half.

  • Scolari said: “We made many mistakes in the second half. When you play very well and win it’s better — but today we didn’t play very well at all. We tried to attack every time without good connections.

“But after this we controlled the game and scored the goals.

“When you play in the Champions League and you’re 2-0 up at half-time you have to work harder.

“You need to control the game more and we didn’t control it very well in the second half.

“I don’t want three, four or five nil — 2-0 is the same three points. We need to be in control of the game.

“They wanted to make more goals. When you want to make goals without good connection you give a chance to the opposing team.

“Bordeaux only had two shots but they had more time with the ball than us and we won the game. But we have enough experience to know this.

“We could have been caught. We received one booking because we lost many balls in the middle. Other teams, arriving in front of goal quicker, might have hurt us.

“If they’d had more quality, it would have been dangerous for us.”
