AC Milan have denied that they are set to make a £6 million swoop for Fluminese's Brazilian defender Thiago Silva. The player had been linked with various other sides; including Fiorentina, in recent weeks.
"Regarding reports in certain newspapers in which they state Milan's rivalry with other clubs to acquire the services of Brazilian Thiago Silva, Milan clarifies that such rivalry will not take place," read a statement on club website acmilan.com.
"Milan has already filled its two non-European players' spots for this season and we are not among the clubs which can sign Thiago Silva."
