Torres to make Liverpool return

Torres to make Liverpool return

04 November 2008 - 05:58

Fernando Torres could make his return to football after injury tonight, in Liverpool's Champions League game against Atletico Madrid. It is understood that Torres is nearly 70percent of his full fitness, but could be called upon if needed.

  • Arsenal to hijack Chelsea deal for English winger?
  • Arsenal & Chelsea battling to sign Ajax defender

  • Torres has missed Liverpool's last five games, and in that time their undefeated record had been lost.

"Fernando has been working really, really hard and doing good work with the physios," Benitez told the club's official website.

"He trained yesterday and will train again today and then we will see. I would say he has a 70 per cent chance of featuring in the game."

The visit of Atletico Madrid will prove a tough match for Liverpool, but Benitez would be willing to throw the player into action if necessary.

Benitez is also confident that the player will not suffer from long-term injury: "No, I don't think there will be a problem. He had the problem before. We know we have to change things when he's going away with the national team and we are in contact with the Spanish fitness coach.''
