Distin fires Portsmouth warning

Distin fires Portsmouth warning

12 November 2008 - 07:43

Portsmouth defender Sylvain Distin has warned the club that they may face losing some of their best players. There have been boardroom wranglings at Fratton Park, and Distin is concerned that this could see the departure of some of the club's best players.

  • Mauricio Pochettino confirms fresh injury blow for Chelsea star
  • Arsenal want to make four marquee signings this summer

  • Distin said: "I am not going to lie. I try to be politically correct but when I came here the club had a plan and right now I do not know what the plan is. Every day you think, 'What is going to happen today and who is going to come and who is going to go?'

"I think it will be the same when the transfer window opens. I am a bit worried about it. I said when I came here I did not want to stay just for a couple of years and that I wanted to stay for the long term.

"In January I will see who is going and see who comes in. That will give us a better idea of the situation.

"I read every day the club has financial problems. As a player you cannot do anything about whether the owner is going to keep the club or whether he will sell or about which players will be leaving. If we are high in the table maybe that will change his mind about selling."
