Keane unsure over Cats future

Keane unsure over Cats future

30 November 2008 - 18:53

Sunderland boss Roy Keane on Saturday admitted he has contemplated quitting the struggling Black Cats.

  • Mikel Arteta insists 27yo star won't be leaving Arsenal
  • Omari Hutchinson wants to continue at Ipswich Town

  • Keane's charges were hammered 4-1 by Bolton on Saturday to leave the Wearsiders in the Premier League relegation zone with five defeats in their last six top-flight games.

The Black Cats are now third favourites for the drop after Saturday's horror show.

And Keane said: "I ask myself every single day if I am the right man for Sunderland. I asked myself this morning and I said that I was. Tomorrow morning if the answer's no we will have to look at it.

"I have to be honest in my assessment. It's not about what's best for Roy Keane. It's Sunderland Football Club. I might wake up on Monday morning and think I'm the right man. On Tuesday it might be different.

"I'm the manager of this football club and ultimately I'm responsible and I've never shied away from that.

"That's part of being a manager and that's why I take full responsibility for today and the run we're on and everything else."

The former Manchester United star has invested over £70million on his squad since arriving over two years ago but his 100th game in charge against Bolton ended in another defeat.
