Bruce wants to keep Heskey

Bruce wants to keep Heskey

07 December 2008 - 16:47

Wigan boss Steve Bruce has revealed he would like to keep hold of England international striker Emile Heskey, despite the danger of the player leaving in the summer on a Bosman transfer for free.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • Tottenham and Liverpool have both been linked with a move for the striker.

Bruce said: "We've got an England centre-forward and we play around him - where can I find another one like him? Unless it's a mind-blowing offer, we don't want to sell.

"A £2million or £3million offer, and it's no way. When I was at Huddersfield, we cashed in on Marcus Stewart for £3million and the club folded - they haven't recovered since."
