Everton wins in the FA Cup fourth round tie defeating Liverpool, thanks to the lone goal by teenager Dan Gosling.

  • Dan Gosling, 19-year old striker, helped Everton win the Merseyside FA Cup derby by scoring the lone goal in the 118th minute.

Liverpool was reduced to ten men in the 76th minute when Lucas Lieva was shown the second yellow card for a tackle on Lescott.

Everton will now face Aston Villa in the fifth round on February 15.

Everton's Dan Gosling is only five games old and he came on as a substitute for the injured Fellaini.

They had one more injury worry later on in the match, Pienaar, pulling a hamstring was replaced by youngster Jack Rodwell.

The match was a rather boring one, did not have any sparkling moments as the former Everton-Liverpool derbies were. The only attacking move in the first period was a blinder from Xabi Alonso.

Both teams were distracted before the start of the match - Liverpool by the Robbie Keane transfer and Everton by the Anichebe training bust-up.

Liverpool had to take off exhausted Fernando Torres in the later period of the extra time. Yossi Benayoun came in for Gerrard, who left the pitch as a result of a hamstring injury.

Some of the reds fans might have thought Robbie Keane would have been better in a supporting striker's role.
